I studied painting and printmaking at the University of Delaware and the Maryland Institute College of Art. I received a BFA from the University of Delaware. After college I studied hand made papermaking with Douglass Morse Howell, the father of the hand made papermaking renaissance that started in the 1960s.

Moving to Portland in 1981, I began showing work in local galleries and juried exhibitions until, in 1999, the illness of my wife made it necessary for me to turn full attention to supporting and raising my family.

I returned to painting in 2007 producing still life and landscape paintings. I spent a month studying painting with well-known painters Israel Hershberg and Vincent Desiderio at the Jerusalem Studio School in Civita Castellana, Italy in 2014.

Since returning from Italy, I've been working on integrating what I absorbed there into a series of figure and still life paintings as well as exploring watercolor landscapes.

I am currently represented by Brian Marki Fine art in Portland, OR and Palm Springs, CA and my work can also be seen at Prographica Gallery in Seattle, WA.
