JM Brodrick is a painter working towards merging her need for realism and the beauty of the purely abstract.
She has always hated painting backgrounds, so now she just take off her eyeglasses and paint the slightly blurred, more abstract background, heaping those areas with paint.
For her, it takes more contrast with the tighter realism of the subject of her painting (painted with glasses on).
Brodrick is still in the tender stages of this new direction, but am very excited each day to paint. She will be very curious to see where this effort takes her in the next 10 to 20 years.
