Sheila Evans earned a bachelor's degree in Fine Art from Spokane's Gonzaga University in 1988. There she studied oil painting and drawing, eventually branching out into pastels. Pastels served as Sheila's primary medium for the next twenty years as she worked as a graphic designer.
In 2008 she became a full-time fine artist, selling her work in galleries and top-tier art festivals across the country. Along the way, her pastel work earned numerous awards, as well as feature articles in publications including the Pastel Journal and France's Pratique des Artes.
During the past several years, Sheila has rediscovered a passion for oil painting, which allows her to create her organic environments on a larger scale. Sheila continues to exhibit and sell her work in galleries, online, and at art festivals. She particularly enjoys festivals for the travel, camaraderie with other artists, and inspiring immersion into a world of art beyond her studio walls.
Sheila currently lives in Spokane with her husband, his two teenagers, and two cats. Their 100-year-old house on Spokane's South Hill lies walking distance from Manito Park, where Sheila finds a majority of her inspiration.
